Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has identified his unsung hero at the club following the conclusion of the season.
Scott McTominay said: “I sing a lot about Mum and Dad, I praise them all the time so I won’t say them. Unsung? I’d probably say Sam Davies [club sport scientist], the lad who does the drinks. He’s there every morning, takes the temperature, asks us how did you sleep, how do you feel, every day, no moaning, brings you your drinks and your shakes after training, so he’s an unsung hero.”
A number of United players are now on duty with their international sides, with McTominay among those set to represent their nation at the European Championships. Scotland’s campaign begins on Monday against the Czech Republic, followed by a fiercely anticipated tie against England at Wembley. The final group match comes on Tuesday, June 22nd against 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia. It was a campaign of significant progression for United, who excelled in the second half of the campaign to finish second in the Premier League — although the season ultimately ended in disappointment with defeat in the Europa League final. Any side is full of individuals who work hard behind the scenes in a number of different roles and McTominay has highlighted one in particular to single out for praise.
