SuSu’s New Orleans Kitchen, a new culinary venture by Reggie Pulliam and Adam Williams, has officially opened its doors in Liverpool. Situated at Molly Malone’s on Victoria Street, the restaurant aims to introduce the city to the rich and vibrant flavors of the Deep South. The menu boasts a variety of traditional dishes, including shrimp bread, gumbo, jambalaya, poboys, and baked oysters. The opening marks a significant milestone for the American owners, who have developed a deep connection with Liverpool, particularly through Reggie’s passion for Everton Football Club.

Reggie Pulliam said: “I’ve been crazy about Everton ever since Joe-Max Moore played for them back in the 90s. I attended his football camp in my native Alabama and from that point on I was hooked. Then lots of things started happening that made us absolutely fall in love with the city and decide to open SuSu’s. Then an official Everton photographer snapped a photo of me that went viral. We had discussed the idea of opening a restaurant here and shortly after we met a couple who said they could help us and also a bartender who knew everything about Deep South cuisine. When my wife met a taxi driver from Liverpool in Florida, the universe had told us enough.”

Adam Williams said: “At first I thought Reggie and Cassie were crazy wanting to open a New Orleans kitchen in Liverpool, but after visiting the city a few times I totally understood why they fell in love with the place. Scousers are amazing and people are so friendly here. Prior to opening we’ve been giving locals free samples of our dishes and the feedback has been amazing so we’re really excited to be open! We have big plans for SuSu’s New Orleans Kitchen but it’s not just about bringing incredible, unique dishes to Liverpool. I believe we may be the first hospitality business in Liverpool to do this. We’re all about ethics and supporting the local people and economy.”

Reggie’s journey with Liverpool began through his admiration for Everton, sparked by American players like Joe-Max Moore, Tim Howard, and Landon Donovan. His frequent visits to Goodison Park, combined with the city’s charm, led to the eventual establishment of SuSu’s. Named after Reggie’s mother, the restaurant is a testament to his love for the city and its people. Adam, who initially had reservations about the venture, quickly embraced the idea after experiencing Liverpool’s welcoming atmosphere.

SuSu’s New Orleans Kitchen not only promises a unique dining experience but also emphasizes ethical business practices and community support. The restaurant is open seven days a week, offering both dine-in and takeaway options, and aims to become a staple in Liverpool’s vibrant culinary scene.
