#PLStories- Levi Colwill says farewell to Albion after Chelsea’s loan deal ends #CHELSEAFC #BHAFC

Albion wanted Colwill as their priority target in defence after an exceptional season on loan from Chelsea. Colwill became pivotal at left centre back as Albion secured Europa League for the first time ever. There were question marks over whether the England under 21 international would stay at Chelsea this season, with Albion guaranteeing him game time and European football if he were to return. He was one of Albion's priority targets this summer but Pochettino insisted he would get the game time he wanted at Chelsea. Colwill posted on his Instagram this evening a message to Brighton. He said: “To Brighton and Hove Albion. “I am proud to have played a small part in the clubs success last season. “You gave me an opportunity to play in the Premier League when no one else did. I thank Graham Potter for first bringing me to the club and to all the employees at the stadium and training ground for making it a great place to perform and develop “To the fans, you’ve always had my back. Since I got into the side, your continuous support made me feel comfortable to play the way I wanted to play and not fear about making mistakes. “You gave me a platform to shine and show my ability in the best league of the world. I will never forget that you supported me. “Lastly Roberto De Zerbi, you challenged me every day. You made me think and see football in a different way. I cannot thank you enough. “Thank you again. LC.” Despite only making 17 Premier League appearances, Colwill became one of the first names on the team sheet in the second half of the season. Chelsea turned down a £30 million bid for Colwill from Albion and it was reported that De Zerbi’s side were set to bid £40 million for him. Albion signed Brazilian defender Igor Julio from Serie A side Fiorentina last Wednesday as an alternative option. The 25-year-old Brazilian signed on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee which is believed to be in the region of £14 million.

#PLStories- Chelsea’s Frank Lampard on AFC Bournemouth victory #CHELSEAFC

Former England international Lampard picked up the first win of his second stint in charge of the Blues at Vitality Stadium, with goals from Conor Gallagher, Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix ending a run of six defeats for Chelsea. After Matias Vina’s 20th minute equaliser the game proved to be quite even, with both sides having to wait later into the game for their chances. Dango Ouattara headed over from close range 11 minutes before the final whistle, whilst Chelsea were more clinical from their chances. Badiashille bundled home a free-kick on 82 minutes, before Felix made sure of the result minutes later. Reflecting on his side ending their losing streak, Lampard began: “I think the Arsenal first half wasn't good enough. I said that, no point in harping on about that. "The second half, reaction was better. "So in the days between games, we can't work much, but we can talk and have meetings and talk to players individually. "And (beating Bournemouth) was a nice small step forward. "I think we controlled a lot of the game. “Bournemouth will always give you some problems here, they’re a good team, top end of the pitch playing through quickly, got a lot of energy in their team. “Set pieces are dangerous, so you never feel safe at 1-1. “But I think we controlled it a lot and maybe a little bit of a sign of us controlling the first half without the killer instinct, like we're running inside their box a lot. “In the first half we had a lot of overloads on the side of the pitch. “And as this team develops or as we add to the squad, I think you have to be more killers at the top end of the pitch. “You do look at the top half of the table. “That's what you'll see all across it. At the moment, we haven't got that, but you saw nice individual performances today in a positive direction.”

#PLStories- Chelsea boss Frank Lampard hails ‘fantastic’ Brighton and worst Chelsea performance #CHELSEAFC

The stand-in boss saw his side beaten 2-1 in his first home game back in charge. He had previously overseen defeats at Wolves and Real Madrid but thought this was the most comprehensive of the three. Lampard said: “It was the most deserved. “At the moment, more than defeats, it’s performances I’ve got to talk about. “Wins only come with performance. In terms of performance, that was the most disappointing one, because we were well beaten in the basics of football. “Brighton are a fantastic team, and they can perform like that against anyone in the league. “But we were short. A yard short, a tackle short, a fighting moment short. When that’s not right, you’re not going to win games. “You have the capacity to do that as well as the desire. At the minute, we’re falling short on that. We need to turn it around quickly.”
