Enzo Fernandez

Enzo Fernandez, the Argentina international, was notably absent from Chelsea’s squad in their recent victory over Port Vale and will also miss the upcoming crucial league match against Manchester City. This development comes amidst a series of discussions between Fernandez and Chelsea’s head coach, Liam Rosenior.
Liam Rosenior said: “I’ve had a really good conversation myself, I had three or four with Enzo. He’s apologised to me, he’s apologised to the club, and we’ll deal with that after a massive game on Sunday.”
The Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior continued: “It’s a serious meeting about something very serious. Enzo, I said in every single step along the way, I am not questioning who he is as a person. I believe people make mistakes and you can’t overstep the punishment for the mistake. He won’t play on Sunday, but hopefully after that he will be a massive part of the group moving forward. There are still things in the air that I won’t speak about now. I have a very good relationship with Enzo, as all of us do, but there are still things that need to be cleared before I make a clear statement on the situation.”
Fernandez was present at Stamford Bridge during Chelsea’s FA Cup win over Port Vale, observing from just behind the substitutes’ bench. Despite his absence from the current squad, he is expected to return for Chelsea’s Premier League showdown against Manchester United next weekend. When questioned about any potential hurdles preventing Fernandez’s return for the Man United game, Rosenior dismissed such concerns.
Liam Rosenior said: “Not in this moment.”
Rosenior also addressed reports suggesting discontent among Chelsea players regarding Fernandez’s exclusion, clarifying that no such issues were raised with him. In addition to Fernandez, Chelsea will be without several other key players due to injury, including Reece James, Levi Colwill, Trevoh Chalobah, Jamie Gittens, and Filip Jorgensen. Notably, Colwill has resumed full training following a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained in August, with the club taking a cautious approach to his reintegration.
