Please shareNorwich City Head Coach Daniel Farke praised his players for coming through a “tough 14 days” to thrash Gillingham 5-0 on Wednesday night, joining new signing Billy Gilmour in talking up the atmosphere on a big night at Carrow Road.“I’m quite pleased, the circumstances of the last two weeks haven’t been easy for the lads,” Farke told official club channels. “We have had a tough 14 days. We had two players back yesterday into team training, Jacob Sorensen and Angus Gunn, our two Covid-19 cases. “Also until the weekend, Dimitris Giannoulis and Max Aarons were self-isolating. They didn’t catch it but it was precautious. Today, seven players missed the game due to Covid-19 reasons. All in all, without 11 first-team players in the last days has been difficult for the mood and confidence but also on the training pitch.” The German bemoaned the impact his side’s Covid outbreak had had on preparations for the upcoming Premier League campaign, some players still isolating with just 11 days left until the big kick-off on August 14. Club captain Grant Hanley has not yet featured in pre-season and has missed three opportunities to play because of the outbreak, City’s final friendly at Newcastle is now his only chance to gain some match sharpness before the season starts. Milot Rashica, Teemu Pukki, Bali Mumba, Michael McGovern, Jordan Hugill, Przemyslaw Placheta and Onel Hernandez also missed the Gillingham game, along with long-term absentee Sam Byram. “It’s not easy for the lads who are missing, no team training for ten days is difficult. For Teemu, he was away longer after the Euros, came back and had three days with us and then is not with us for ten days. “It’s not ideal but the main thing is, the lads feel alright,” the City boss continued. Some are struggling with some symptoms, but the main thing is their safety and health. “We don’t want them to struggle for too long so we accept this situation. In the last few days, there have been no new Covid-19 cases so we’ve stopped the cycle a little bit. Hopefully, step by step, we get our players back. We have to take time to get their fitness back.” A key player who was involved, and was instrumental throughout the friendly, was Billy Gilmour. The Scot featured in front of a Carrow Road crowd for the first time on Wednesday night and was blown away by the atmosphere created by the 10,692 fans in attendance. “It was an amazing feeling,” he said. “Fans are back and honestly it was so loud. When we were scoring and the fans were celebrating, there is no better feeling. “It makes me really excited for the Liverpool game in a couple of weeks. It is a big fixture to start the season and, hopefully, we can continue our positivity into that.” Farke agreed, commending the support provided by those watching the game live, as fans congregated at Carrow Road for the first time since December 2020. “It also felt a bit special tonight with it being our first time back at Carrow Road,” he said. “It’s been our first time back for months and a first chance to celebrate a little bit our fantastic last season and the promotion. “You could feel it after the celebrations after each goal how much it meant to them and how much they have missed our feeling and spirit together. Our supporters have always been with us, even in the empty stadiums last season. For that, it’s great to be re-connected and reunited with them.” Please share
Sean Dyche Burnley

#PLStories- Burnley goalkeeper #BaileyPeacockFarrell signs season-long deal at Sheffield Wednesday #BURNLEYFC #SHWFC

Burnley goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell has signed a season-long loan deal with League One side Sheffield Wednesday. The Northern Ireland will spend the 2021/22 campaign at Hillsborough for the chance to get regular first-team football under his belt. Peacock-Farrell signed from Leeds United two years ago and made his first appearances for the club last season, starting eight games in all competitions, including four in the Premier League, deputising for Nick Pope. With Pope on his way back to full fitness and free agent Wayne Hennessey brought in as competition earlier this month, Sean Dyche has decided to grant Wednesday’s request to take Peacock-Farrell on loan, with Will Norris also part of the club’s goalkeeping ranks. There had been interest from Championship clubs in the ‘keeper who has won 23 caps for Northern Ireland. He is the second Burnley goalkeeper to leave on loan in this window, following Lukas Jensen in making a temporary switch, after he signed for League Two side Carlisle United. Goalkeeping coach Billy Mercer, formerly of the Owls, said: “It’s a great opportunity for him to go and play a lot of games at probably the biggest club in that league who be looking to challenge for promotion. “Having brought Wayne in to complement the group we already had we have plenty of cover, so we felt it was the right club at the right time for him to go and play some games. “Hopefully he will get as many games as possible and come back and be pushing for the No.1 spot.”
Sean Dyche Burnley

#PLStories- Burnley boss #SeanDyche on transfers and Oldham victory #BURNLEYFC

SEAN Dyche continues to scour the transfer market as he looks for strength in depth ahead of another Premier League campaign. After securing a 2-0 win at League Two Oldham Athletic in what was Burnley’s first friendly in front of fans, the Clarets boss noted: "We are probably one or two short” when it comes to squad numbers. Dyche has been able to add defender Nathan Collins on a four-year deal from Stoke City for a reported £12million, as well as goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey on a free transfer from Crystal Palace. But with only two senior wingers, and ongoing speculation about Dwight McNeil’s future, Burnley are light in wide areas, while further defensive and attacking options would be beneficial. Dyche has goalkeeper Nick Pope and long-serving defender Kevin Long to come back from injury, while Chris Wood is competing with the New Zealand football team at the Tokyo Olympics, and Matej Vydra comes back into the fold after his involvement in Euro 2020 with Czech Republic. But of his current crop, Dyche was satisfied with the performance against Keith Curle’s Latics. “They had 90 minutes on Tuesday at the training ground and a heavy couple of days, so I thought there might be a little bit of lethargy which I thought in the first half there was - more mentally as well,” said the Burnley boss. “The team that came on second half, there was a lot of sharpness to it and they looked clear-minded and overall it was a good end to a good week.” Jay Rodriguez opened the scoring with his third goal in two friendlies after coming on at half-time, before youngster Lewis Richardson scored his first senior goal for the club a minute later. “He’s a young talent, so we’ll how he goes. He’s maturing and getting more used to it,” Dyche said. “He had moments last season when he was in amongst us. “I know we were stretched with injuries but we know he’s in the background, working hard at his game and he’s done well this pre-season, working hard amongst the young players in the main first team group. “These are good games for the young lads as well, mixing with the first team lads.” It was not Burnley’s first friendly of the summer, but the first chance for fans to be able to watch. Indeed, it was a first away day since February 2020. And that was another positive for Dyche. “It was terrific. I think we all want that,” he said. “To see our own fans away from home in a pre-season game has got to be a good sign. We hope so, anyway, and it was great to see the fans there.”

#PLStories- #GrahamPotter on why #DannyWelbeck did not feature against Rangers #BHAFC

Albion head coach Graham Potter has revealed the reason why Danny Welbeck did not feature in their friendly against Rangers yesterday. The 30-year-old striker was named in the Seagulls second half 11 and was set to play alongside Florin Andone up top. But Potter revealed that Welbeck had a slight feeling and they did not want to risk him. He said: "I need to speak to Danny and the physios. "He litterally just had a feeling before he was about to come on, so we didn't want to take any chances, we are at that stage where we don't want to take chances. "So we will see how he goes but hopefully nothing to worry about."

#PLStories- #Bernard signs for Sharjah FC in UAE #EVERTONFC

Bernard says farewellSharjah FC have confirmed the signing of Everton winger Bernard. The UAE Pro League outfit have announced that the Brazilian has signed a 'two-season' contract. After his move to the UAE was confirmed, the 28-year-old was quick to thank Everton fans and current and former teammates. However, he also left a cryptic message about stuff that has 'happened behind the scenes'. On his latest Instragram post - a graphic of himself with the words 'Thanks Everton' in bold letters - he said: "First of all I would like to thank the fans, and all the players who were with me and always supported me at all times, since I arrived I was always well received and treated as if I was really a member of the family. "Unfortunately you who support me and not those who appear here to spread the words of hate DON'T KNOW HALF of what happens behind the scenes, I wanted to be more clear but unfortunately TODAY I can't, the message I leave today is of gratitude and you will always be special. "Everton is GIANT, has an incredible history and has the structure and capability to return to be and to conquer everything that it has been and conquered. Ralph Hasenhuttl

#PLStories- #RalphHasenhuttl wants defensive ‘change’ and praises #RomainPerraud #SAINTSFC

RALPH Hasenhuttl heaped praise on Saints’ summer signing Romain Perraud but insisted the club’s defensive record is “something we have to change.” The 23-year-old French full-back was the first new acquisition of the current campaign, signed from Stade Brest at the start of July for an undisclosed fee. Perraud, who made the France Ligue One Team of the Season in 2020-21, signed a four-year deal and acts as a direct replacement for departed Ryan Bertrand – now at Leicester City. The full-back has been heavily involved in the summer pre-season training with the Saints squad, including being pictured on the side’s cycle through New Forest. Speaking to BBC Radio Solent, Hasenhuttl said: "(I’m) very pleased. Getting him here, he is a character that’s perfect to our club, to our team. “A hard worker, offensively with some good habits, quick player, left foot and right foot. “Defensively is a guy who likes to defend on the front foot. A little bit similar to Kyle (Walker-Peters) on the right side. “He had a fantastic season in France last year and decided to come to us and after Ryan Bertrand has left, we knew we needed a very good replacement.” Saints had a torrid time at the back last season, only keeping nine clean sheets in 38 Premier League matches – and conceding 68 goals, of which only relegated West Brom let in more. Eight of those shutouts had come by January 4, when Saints were sixth placed and had just beaten league leaders Liverpool without conceding to pick up three consecutive clean sheets. After earning just one more for the remainder of the campaign, it has made clear what Hasenhuttl wants to do. When asked about the defence, he added: “Absolutely no question. This is definitely something we have to change because it automatically leads us to a better position. “That is why we were up the table, so we need to change it and make sure it’s all year, change the behaviour.” Saints reportedly have a behind-closed-doors match against Championship Fulham on Saturday, before a trip to Wales sees them take on Swansea and Cardiff in pre-season friendlies. Athletic Bilbao then visit St Mary’s on Saturday, August 7.
Davy Propper

#PLStories- #DavyPropper sends message to Brighton after joining PSV #BHAFC

Davy Propper has revealed the challenge Dutch players face coming to the Premier League. But the former Albion midfielder says he had a “great time” with the club during four seasons in England. Propper is now back at PSV and is eyeing a push for the title but has written a message to Seagulls staff and supporters. He has highlighted the leap players must make when they swap the Eredivisie for the Prem. Propper wrote: “I want to start off by saying thank you to all the people at the club who helped me and to the fans who showed their support for me throughout my four years at Brighton. “I had a great time with the club. I am very happy to have played over 100 games and look back at a lot of the performances we put in and believe we showed great progression as a Premier League team. GRAHAM POTTER STUDIES ALBION SQUAD AHEAD OF SIGNINGS “It was tough coming from Holland to England because it is such a big change; the physicality is at a much higher level. The way the game is played here is completely different in terms of intensity and there was a period of adaptation. But we did well from the off and have always I am very happy to have played 106 times in the Premier League. When you’re in the moment you don’t realise the landmarks that you pass, you always look forward knowing you’ll have time to reflect later on, but now I’ve had the summer to look back, I am very proud. I feel I have always had a good relationship with the Brighton fans; the last 18 months have been really tough with COVID-19, but I always felt the supporters' positivity and tried to do my best for them. It makes me smile to think of the emotions we went through together – the times when the games were ticking down and we needed the points, and we would always leave it late! But winning the games against Manchester United to secure our position for another season, as well as the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City, they were really great times and to feel the atmosphere was amazing. They are the moments that I will remember. Last year wasn’t good for me personally with injuries, but I got a lot of help from the club to pull through those difficult moments. I could never say anything bad about the staff or players, I am proud to have known them and played alongside them. Football is difficult, people go in separate ways, but I have made a few friends for life here. I now have a new challenge and opportunity with PSV, where we will be aiming to win the title and fighting for a place in Europe, but my time with Brighton I will never forget.
