Manchester United confirmed the addition of Jadon Sancho earlier this afternoon, putting an end to one of the longest-running transfer sagas of recent years. The England winger may well make his Red Devils debut in the 2021/22 campaign’s curtain-raiser at Old Trafford when Manchester United take on Leeds. Marcelo Bielsa’s Whites will be at full strength for the first game of the new season, owing to their rigorous pre-season schedule and players returning to training quicker than many had anticipated. Sancho has issued Kalvin Phillips with a warning however, stating he is looking for a ‘confidence booster’ from the opening day contest.
Jadon Sancho said: “Definitely – I told him [Phillips] to watch out, so he knows! I’m excited for the new season, especially as the first game is at home. That’s always a confidence booster to be in front of your own fans so it will be nice.”
