Burnley goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell has signed a season-long loan deal with League One side Sheffield Wednesday. The Northern Ireland will spend the 2021/22 campaign at Hillsborough for the chance to get regular first-team football under his belt. Peacock-Farrell signed from Leeds United two years ago and made his first appearances for the club last season, starting eight games in all competitions, including four in the Premier League, deputising for Nick Pope. He is the second Burnley goalkeeper to leave on loan in this window, following Lukas Jensen in making a temporary switch, after he signed for League Two side Carlisle United.
Goalkeeping coach Billy Mercer, formerly of the Owls, said: “It’s a great opportunity for him to go and play a lot of games at probably the biggest club in that league who be looking to challenge for promotion. Having brought Wayne in to complement the group we already had we have plenty of cover, so we felt it was the right club at the right time for him to go and play some games. Hopefully he will get as many games as possible and come back and be pushing for the No.1 spot.”
