Ryan Gravenberch, the Dutch midfield sensation, has opened up about the recent coaching changes at Ajax and his experiences in the Premier League with Liverpool. The 41-year-old John Heitinga, a former Everton defender, is returning to Amsterdam for his fourth stint, this time as head coach, replacing Francesco Farioli after just one season.
Ryan Gravenberch said: “I also talked a lot about my game this season with John Heitinga, watched a lot of footage as well. I personally think it’s a shame that he’s going to Ajax, but I think they have a good coach in him.”
Gravenberch, while speaking to Algemeen Dagblad, also highlighted the role of Liverpool’s coaching staff in maintaining his fitness and form throughout the season.
Ryan Gravenberch said: “Can I keep that up? Good question. Treating your body well. I’m someone who prefers to look to the future than back. I was immediately excited. I knew immediately that I could do it offensively, defensively I still had some doubts, but oh well. As far as I’m concerned, the season couldn’t start soon enough.”
Gravenberch’s reflections underscore his appreciation for Heitinga’s influence and the positive impact of Liverpool’s coaching team. His ability to start all 34 Premier League matches and contribute to Liverpool’s title-winning campaign is a testament to his dedication and the support he received. As he looks forward, Gravenberch remains optimistic about his ability to maintain his high performance levels, focusing on future challenges rather than past achievements.
