Nuno Espirito Santo
Nottingham Forest winger Ramon Sosa has made his intentions clear regarding his future at the City Ground, amidst ongoing transfer speculation. The 25-year-old Paraguayan, who joined Forest from Talleres last summer, experienced a challenging debut season in English football, often finding himself on the bench under manager Nuno Espirito Santo. Despite limited game time, Sosa has expressed a strong desire to remain in the Premier League, even as Brazilian club Palmeiras renews their interest.
Andre Hernan said: “Palmeiras’ scout evaluated this player and saw that he is very good. The information that came in was that he did not want to (leave Europe). It was believed that (Palmeiras) was interested and would negotiate. The agent said that there was an agreement. I spoke to someone from the Palmeiras board and they told me that the chance of him ending up at Palmeiras is very unlikely. The chance is very small.”
Sosa himself addressed the transfer rumors, reiterating his commitment to the Premier League. He stated, “I’m going to stay in the Premier League, always.” This declaration comes despite Palmeiras’ attempts to secure a deal before the Club World Cup, as reported by Brazilian publication BolaVIP.
During the 2024/25 season, Sosa made 23 appearances for Nottingham Forest, but only four of those were starts. His lack of playing time was particularly noticeable during the final three games of the campaign, where he remained on the bench despite the team’s push for a top-five finish. Sosa commented on his situation, saying, “Personally, I’m fine. As everyone has seen, I haven’t been playing in consecutive games lately. But in practice and physically, I’m feeling very good.”
With Sosa under contract until 2029, Nottingham Forest faces a decision in the current transfer window. Strengthening their options on the wings is reportedly a priority, which could further limit Sosa’s opportunities for regular minutes under Nuno Espirito Santo. The question remains whether Forest will retain the Paraguayan winger or if a move could still materialize.
