Alex Iwobi, 28, made history as the first Premier League footballer to officially release a song under his name earlier this year. The track, titled “Don’t Shoot,” featured fellow Arsenal academy graduate Chuba Akpom, known by his artist name Scoli, and former England youth international Medy Elito, aka Don EE.
Iwobi’s passion for music did not stop there. He recently released a second single, “What’s Luv?”, collaborating with close friend SPKS and another artist named MBrown. Iwobi uses “17” as his moniker—a nod to the shirt number he wore for Everton and the Gunners, and now wears for Fulham and Nigeria. Nevertheless, the midfielder still associates his real name and image with his musical releases.
Alex Iwobi said, “Music has always been a passion of mine and a way for me to express myself away from football. Music is a great tool, and I’ve always used that as a productive way to share how I feel. I want them to be encouraged to achieve their dreams and to put their focus into positive things. Creating music doesn’t take anything away from my football; it helps me switch off. I will always work hard and try to improve in my sport, but this is a good use of my spare time.”
