Jose Mourinho has explained exactly what he meant when he said that he was “not in control of transfers” at Tottenham Hotspur. The Spurs head coach had been speaking about Kyle Walker-Peters when he mentioned that it was not down to him whether the player remained at or left the club. When asked exactly what he meant about not being in control of decisions about transfers, Mourinho went into further detail about the process involved.
Jose Mourinho said “We decide. We. I was saying the situation of Kyle Walker-Peters is not really about, ‘I want him to stay’, The player has a decision to make and maybe he wants to leave. Mr Levy is in control of the numbers and also has an important position to say, ‘We sell or we don’t sell, or for how much we sell for’. Steve Hitchen [Spurs’ chief scout] also has a say in relation to he thinks we should do. It’s something that we decide based on communication. The only thing that is clear about Kyle is that he is a good player.”
