Everton captain Seamus Coleman admits he’s looking forward to what he hopes will be a more relaxing season after reflecting on his spectacular match-winner from a tight angle against Leeds United earlier this year.
Seamus Coleman said: “I remember the game, I remember feeling after that it was a big win. Obviously there were quite a few of them towards the end of the season, Brighton and stuff like that and I remember this being a game that you didn’t want to lose. To score the goal was great for me. You’re not going to ask it if I meant it are you? These things, I don’t know how they happen sometimes, I really don’t. I’ll never score a goal like that again.”
Pointing at the paused image of when he struck the ball,
Seamus Coleman added: “As you can see, there’s nobody in the box and the keeper is so far off his line. I just decided to hit it into that space. Thankfully it went in but I could try that another 50 times and I’ll never hit it as sweet. If anyone says I was trying to cross that then I don’t know why I’m crossing it. I’m just glad it went in, no matter what anyone thinks and we got the three points which was big. Listen, we want to have a much more comfortable season for sure. It was a lovely goal, I think the whole stadium was shocked, there was a bit of silence first. That’s not even an angry celebration because I was probably shocked myself that this went in but I was delighted.”
