Alex Iwobi, fresh from scoring for Fulham in his first return to Goodison Park in the Premier League, has made significant strides in his career, extending beyond football. Since leaving Everton last summer after a four-year stint where he made 140 appearances, Iwobi has ventured into the music industry. His debut single, “Don’t Shoot,” is a collaboration with former Middlesbrough striker Chuba Akpom, now with Ajax, and ex-England youth international Medy Elito. They perform under the rap aliases Scoli and Don EE, respectively, while Iwobi embraces the moniker ’17’, reflecting his shirt number. Unlike his collaborators, Iwobi publicly associates his name and image with his musical projects.
Alex Iwobi said, “Historically, no Premier League player has brought out music with their name and face attached to it [a masked rapper called Dide claims to play in the top flight], but I like to be different and make a difference. Growing up in an area of London that is challenging for some people – I know how hard it can be, and I’m grateful to have a platform to try and make a difference. I want them to be encouraged to achieve their dreams and to put their focus into positive things. Creating music doesn’t take anything away from my football; it helps me switch off.”
