Ian Wright has praised Jack Grealish for his role in luring Ross Barkley to Aston Villa and revealed his excitement over the partnership the pair are creating. In an interview after completing the move, Barkley revealed how he had spoken to Grealish about what life at Villa would be like.
Ross Barkley said “We’re mates off the field and know each other well. We’ve spoken previously and I’m looking forward to playing with him. I spoke to him over the past couple of weeks and he’s been telling me how good of a club it is and how welcomed I’ll be when I come here.”
Now, BBC and ITV pundit Ian Wright has hailed the midfield duo’s relationship both on and off the pitch.
Ian Wright said “Do you know what I love about Grealish and Barkley? You can almost just see after the game they’re just saying, ‘Come on, let’s go and play Playstation, let’s go and do stuff’ – they’re so happy. I love the fact Jack Grealish, with the power he’s got there now has said, ‘Go and get Ross Barkley. Go and get Ross Barkley for me because he’s going to help me’. They look so good.”
Barkley, 26, joined Villa on a season-long loan from Chelsea towards the end of the transfer window and made an instant impact with a goal on his debut in the 7-2 thrashing of Liverpool. He followed that up with the winning strike against Leicester City as Villa recorded four straight wins to kick off the Premier League campaign before suffering a first defeat against Leeds United on Friday.
