Manchester United Earns Draw at Anfield, Breaking Six-Year Scoring Drought Against Liverpool

Manchester United managed to secure a point in a 2-2 draw against Liverpool in the Premier League. Ruben Amorim’s team broke a six-year streak of not scoring at Anfield in the top flight since 2018. Harry Maguire missed a potential winning shot in the final moments of the game. Lisandro Martinez scored the first goal for United, but Liverpool quickly responded with a goal from Cody Gakpo. Mohamed Salah then scored from the penalty spot, putting Liverpool in the lead. However, Alejandro Garnacho found Amad in Liverpool’s area, and the young player scored, tying the game. After the goal, Amad celebrated with his teammates and fans, kissing the United crest. Rasmus Hojlund, Noussair Mazraoui, and Casemiro all congratulated Amad on his goal. Casemiro also made sure Amad stayed focused for the remainder of the game.
Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, said “Being 2-1 [down] then scoring it’s good to get a point but we need more. Now we have an FA Cup tie at Arsenal and it is going to be very tough but we want to get to the final again.” He acknowledged the difficulty of playing against Liverpool and praised his team’s effort and passion. Fernandes continued, “You have to put in effort and that’s why we took something from today. It can’t stop here, We have to bring this frustration to the next game to understand this has to be the level. If we can do it an Anfield, we have to do it everywhere.”
