Eddie Howe, the head coach of Newcastle United, has been adamant about his stance on Martin Dubravka, the Slovakian star player. Despite rumors of a done deal for Dubravka’s transfer to Saudi Arabia, and the Saudi Pro League approving funds for the deal, Howe expressed his desire to retain the player.
Eddie Howe said “I have got nothing to add to that (him saying goodbye). With Martin, I have been preparing for this game. We have had a lot of games in succession so I have not spoken to anybody about that.”
When questioned about the potential loss of Dubravka, Howe was firm in his response.
Eddie Howe said “He is playing very well at the moment and certainly from my side I would not want to lose him at all.”
The topic of an impending deal for Dubravka was brought up again, but Howe maintained his ignorance about the matter.
Eddie Howe said “I know nothing. Genuinely. I have been head down into the game. I am sure I will speak to Paul at some stage.”
Howe was also asked about the possibility of offering Dubravka a new deal, to which he responded positively.
Eddie Howe said “That would be my wish yes.”
Reflecting on the team’s performance, Howe praised Dubravka’s contribution.
Eddie Howe said “I think we rode our luck at times and I think Martin [Dubravka] played really well and made some really good saves.”
