Bruno Lage plans to take a closer look at forgotten man Bruno Jordao before the January transfer window opens. Portuguese midfielder Jordao returned to training at Compton Park during the international break after a lengthy spell on the side-lines nursing a knee injury.
Bruno Lage said: “He started with just the warm ups, then 20 minutes, then 30 minutes, so he needs time. We have six weeks to work with him to see if he’s ready to compete for a place, or if we need to make another decision. I am very happy with him. I’ve known him since I arrived and I’ve seen him working hard since the first day. He’s been trying to come back as soon as possible, now he needs to show me on the pitch that he can fight for a place in the team.”
Jordao only made four first team appearances under previous Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo, including just one six-minute cameo in the Premier League in the final day defeat to Chelsea in 2020. Lage wants to add a midfielder to his squad and Wolves are considering another move for Portugal international Renato Sanches, although competition for his signature is expected to be fierce.
Bruno Lage added: “I need to see Bruno. What I want is to give him a lot of confidence to be ready to train and compete, and try to understand the dynamic he can give us. It’s too soon for me (to make a judgement), I’ve seen some of his games in the past but it’s very soon for me to make a conclusion as to what he can give us.”
