Former Aston Villa first-team coach John Terry insists that he is in no rush to make the leap into management. The 40-year-old has never hidden his desire to make the step up to management and Villa boss Smith admitted earlier this year that it was only a matter of time before his No.2 moved on.
Both of his former club, Chelsea and Villa go head to head in the Premier League this weekend as Smith’s side travel to Stamford Bridge for a 5:30pm kick off in the capital.
The 40-year-old Chelsea academy graduate won five Premier League titles, one Champions league, a Europa League and five FA Cups during his 19 years at Stamford Bridge, making him the most successful captain in the club’s history, before he joined Villa as a player in 2017. The former England defender has stepped down from his position as assistant head coach to Dean Smith after just shy of three years in the role. Terry left Villa with immediate effect in the summer before Villa began their pre-season preparations for the new Premier League season. Having turned to coaching after his retirement, Terry now believes his next job will be as a number one, but insists he is remaining calm about his prospects.
