New West Bromich Albion manager Valerien Ismael has sent a warning to Sheffield United and their Championship rivals that the club will “attack for promotion” next season.
Valerian Ismael said: “In the long term, for us, it must be promotion. At the moment, for me, it’s important to implement the philosophy. When I implement the philosophy, I need to have the right player to play like we want. When we get that, we’ll be ready to compete. Then, it’s all about winning games with consistency. My job now is to close the gap quickly, and prepare the guys to be ready to compete. When that comes, then will be the time to say we can attack for promotion. I want the fans to be proud of the way we play. We need to work together to create this work ethic. Every player counts for our philosophy. Everything is of a high standard at the club, which was my expectation because it has been a Premier League club. The atmosphere is good and I’ve met a lot of people who are dedicated and committed to the club. There’s a positive atmosphere around and I think that’s a good thing. We have a clear vision as to what we want to achieve with the team. I want to implement my philosophy, this is priority number one. I want to look at the squad, have an overview of the academy players and understand which players can follow us.”
