Valerien Ismael has confirmed that former Reading chief executive Ron Gourlay will be advising West Bromwich Albion’s transfer committee.
Valerian Ismael said: “We are close with Ken, Ian Pearce and Ron Gourlay. We are working very close together. It’s the new way that the club wanted and it’s exactly what I want.”
In his first press conference as Albion boss, Ismael made it clear all of his energy will be exerted on the training ground over the next few weeks in order to drill his philosophy into his new charges. So, while Ismael will play a leading role in the club’s transfer strategy, it will be down to Ken, Pearce and Gourlay to iron out the deals he wants.
Valerian Ismael added: “I need to have my focus on the pitch. I have explained to the club exactly the profile of players that I need in each position, so they know what we are looking for.”
