Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is progressing in his rehabilitation work ahead of the European Championships.
Harry Maguire said: “I knew for me to start the Europa League final was very unlikely but I hoped to play some part. Ahead of the final, I could still not run on the ankle. But it is now improving and getting better, so I am just looking forward to the Euros.”
Maguire suffered an ankle ligament injury against Aston Villa last month which has forced him to be sidelined for several weeks now, crucially ruling the centre-back out of contention for United’s Europa League final clash against Villarreal in Gdansk. While this is positive news and there have been no setbacks for Maguire so far, Southgate may have to promote a player from his standby list if Maguire is deemed unable to play any part this summer, although that seems highly unlikely.
