Manager Pep Guardiola claims his top priority, and his squad’s biggest achievement, has already been achieved, with the triumph in the Premier League.
Pep Guardiola said: “I’m not going to gamble for one cup. You can compete in the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Champions League when you are on a good run in the league. More important than winning the Premier League this season is the fact we won five in ten years, or three in the last four. This means more than winning one situation. We want to compete and try to win the Champions League, and next season again. These guys are huge competitors and they want to do it but i admire the human beings waking up every day and doing the best job they can do. Wake up and do your best. After, you can win or lose and the Premier League means this. It is the Premier League every day. Newcastle away is so tough, and we win. Crystal Palace away… win. Anfield away, and win. That is why as a manager I give a lot of credit to the players. When they arrive to be the best team in Europe of course we want to do it but for me it is more important to be fighting for ten months than six games. I always thought this even when we won, in Barcelona, the Champions League two times.”
