Jose Mourinho has said that he and his Tottenham Hotspur players will consider with the club at the end of the season what is best when it comes to possible wage cuts or deferrals. Spurs estimate that they will lose out on £200million this financial year due to television revenue rebates, lost gate receipts and cancelled events and sporting fixtures at their stadium.
Jose Mourinho said “I am with my club and I am with my players. The decision of my club and my players are my decisions, always. Always. So with me, zero problems, I am happy to defend the players and defend the club. In the end we are all the same, but in this moment, I’m not thinking about it at all. I think we have one month to think about playing football almost every three days and to try to get the best position for us. If we get a Champions League position, we’re helping the club. If we get a Europa League position, we’re helping less but we’re still helping the club. If we don’t get a Europa League position, we’re not helping the club in the relation to that extra money. So the focus is on getting results, performing and finishing the season the best we can. After that, what my players and my club decide, I will be always with them.”
