The Ecuador international is due to make hiS 11th Premier League appearance when the Seagulls visit West Ham tomorrow. He has done enough in his previous ten to attract interest from several big clubs, including Manchester United and Liverpool. But head coach Graham Potter says the 20-year-old’s feet remain firmly on the ground.
Graham Potter said: “He’s a really humble person. He loves playing football and is really low maintenance as a footballer. He wants to join in with his team-mates and he’s really enjoying his football, as you can imagine. He’s only young, but he’s got such a high possibility. We love him here. As for speculation, it is what it is, you’re always going to get that stuff, but we’re really enjoying having him here.”
Potter has said on several occasions he might have waited too long to give Caicedo his Premier League chance.
Graham Potter added: “I am happy for him that he’s enjoying his football. He hasn’t played many games. He hasn’t played that many games in the Premier League, so maybe he thinks it’s easier than it is, but long may that continue.”
Brighton & Hove Albion boss Graham Potter has heaped praise on the job David Moyes has done at West Ham ahead of the visit of Albion on Sunday. Speaking ahead of West Ham vs Brighton, Potter says there are a small number of clubs vying for top position in a league of their own, below the top six and above the relegation zone, noting that the Hammers have enjoyed a lot of success in this small group of teams since Moyes’ arrival three years ago.
Graham Potter said: “I think what you have is apart from six teams, seven teams maybe, everyone has to feel that they are holding two positions which is, getting enough points to make sure you stay in the league and then you have ambition and that’s where we are. I can’t comment on West Ham and where they see themselves, but that’s where we see ourselves and we see a lot of teams in that same bracket. West Ham have done really well for the last couple of years since David’s gone in there. They’ve invested quite a lot in terms of their squad and it’s only since David’s gone there that they’ve really had some success I would say.”
