John Ruddy has penned a message outlining how his second-half appearance at Liverpool on Sunday “seems as though it will be my last appearance for Wolves”. It’s understood that the 35-year-old will now seek a new challenge away from Molineux after five memorable years. Ruddy, who amassed 72 appearances in Old Gold,
John Ruddy said: “So yesterday seems as though it will be my last appearance for Wolves. Thank you to the fans for your support through the highs and lows. Thank you to the back room staff for all of your support and, more importantly, your friendships over the last 5 years. A huge thank you to every player that I was lucky enough to play and train alongside. I believe that a successful team is driven by the culture of its players, the culture we created over these years has enabled us to take this club to places no one thought possible. A changing room full of top players and men did that so I thank you for allowing me to share that journey. Most important of all, thank you to my family. The sacrifice we have made over these 5 years has been difficult but would not be possible without your love and support, here’s to the next challenge. #wolfpack.”
Speaking last week, though,
Bruno Lage said: “I want him to stay. He’s a big professional. I haven’t given him anything because he deserved to play that game against Norwich. I gave him a chance to play because he deserves to play more. Every time he plays, he plays well. He has trained hard and has pushed Jose. Jose did a fantastic job because of John. I am happy with him.”
