Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk is looking forward to experiencing the Elland Road atmosphere when they face Manchester United on Sunday..
Pascal Strujik said: “Yeah, and I think they’ll be there to support us 110%. From the first whistle, even before, they’ll be so loud supporting us and it’s like a push in the back you get from the fans. For us and for them being there it’s really important. Them giving us all the support is really good for us.”
For players who have brought in from abroad, they could perhaps be forgiven for not fully understanding the strong rivalry between the two sides. However, Struijk believes he is now beginning to fully understand how much the fixture means to supporters and referenced boyhood Leeds fan Kalvin Phillips as someone who really feels the intense nature of the fixture.
Pascal Strujik said: “I’m starting to get more used to it. Not as much as a local boy like Kalv, but I’m feeling what everyone’s feeling. I just have the feeling that [we] really want to win, especially after those big defeats because that’s what no-one wants.”
