Ezri Konsa Aston Villa

Wolves opened the scoring through Matheus Cunha in the 25th minute and defended manfully until Ollie Watkins levelled the game up in the 73rd minute. Konsa then put the hosts in front in the 88th minute before Jhon Duran came off the bench to score his fourth goal of the season in added time. Villa came back from two goals behind to Everton last weekend and have now claimed four wins from their first five league games. Today’s win over Wolves was the first home match Villa have played since the passing of Gary Shaw , and Konsa addressed that after full-time.

Ezri Konsa said “We knew we were not good enough in the first half. We came out firing in the second half and punished them. It’s been an emotional week for us with the passing of Gary Shaw. On Tuesday we wanted to dedicate the win to him. And we wanted to do it today in front of our fans and in front of his family.  He’s a big talent. We see it every day in training. It’s important for him to stay humble and we’ll help him do that. He’s still young.”
