Pierre Emerick Aubameyang

#PLStories – #MikelArteta believes its not just #PierreEmerickAubameyang but Arsenal squad that has to improve !! #ArsenalFC

Auba scored in the cup, but do he and some of the other senior players need to do more in games against Palace and a similar one that you'll face against Newcastle alongside the youngsters who have done so well? Yeah but not about individuals, but as a collective we have to do more. And then for sure when you look at the way these games are won there are individual actions rather than collective actions. It's a moment of spark that has to open the game up and then the game becomes much easier to get what you want. But we missed that [against Palace]. It's not just Auba, it's other players. A lot of simple balls that we gave away without any real pressure that allowed Palace to run in transition. But for me it was more than anything a little bit lack of freshness. It's a lot of fixtures a lot of games, but we cannot use that as an excuse. I think we have to do better. Would you have supported that? No. I think I prefer to play. I think we all prefer to play. We are on it, we all made big efforts and tried to contribute the best possible way to make things work and happen. I feel really lucky that we are still playing. And it's still safe and the right thing to do then let's keep doing it. With Newcastle it took 114 minutes to break them down last time in the FA Cup game. What do you need to do to break them down inside the 90 minutes? Well we did a lot of good things there, but we didn't have the capacity to put the ball in the net in our situations that we created. Against them, be ruthless in front of goal. The moment we created the chances, the mindset to attack them as much as possible, hit the target as many times as we possibly can, and we'll be fine. I think you are there trying to push the team. This is, in my opinion, where we are missing the fans so much because it's another big element that pushes you, that drives you, that is forcing you all the time to attack and attack. But you need the right structure and organisation to attack these type of blocks and you need the quality, the freshness, the timing and the cohesion to finish the actions better than we've done [against Palace]. But overall I think it was a fair result. They are squad players, they are contributing in the same way. Or they should contribute in the same way. Because they are young they don't have less responsibility. If they are picked to play in the starting 11 it's because they deserve it more than somebody else on the bench. So I don't make the difference. Everybody has to have the approach to the game that I am here and I am going to win it for the team.
Nuno Espirito Santo

#PLStories – #NunoEspiritoSanto shares his frustration after another loss at the death against Everton #WolvesFC

Nuno Espirito Santo has told his Wolverhampton Wanderers players to cut out the late lapses after Everton became the latest team to hit them with a sucker-punch. Wolves were heading for a hard-earned point against Everton before Michael Keane climbed above Romain Saiss to power home the winning goal in the 77th minute at Molineux. The defeat means Wolves are now five without victory in the Premier League and Keane’s header resulted in more dropped points after slip ups at Manchester United and Brighton. It’s also another late blow and eight of the goals Wolves have conceded across all competitions this season have arrived in the final 15 minutes. Nuno said: "We played a good game, especially in the first half. In the second half there were not too many chances for both teams. “We created a few chances but the game was decided on a set piece. We must be more focused and more aggressive in our own box. The boys tried hard but of course we are frustrated because it’s happened to us many times." After 18 games Wolves have accumulated 22 points and sit in 14th position in the Premier League table. Wolves went through a summer of change with the likes of Matt Doherty and Diogo JOta leaving and a host of new players, many of whom are youngsters, arriving in their place. Nuno added: "We have to stop comparing what has happened before. We are in a different moment, we have different players. We must realise that we must do better."
Arsene Wenger

#PLStories – #ArseneWenger shares story of #SolCampbell transfer coup #ArsenalFC #THFC

Arsene Wenger has revealed that his Arsenal players booed Sol Campbell in training in order to try and prepare him for the north London derby in 2001. Campbell became a pantomime villain when he left Spurs to move to their bitter rivals after five years with the Lillywhites. Wenger knew the England centre-back would receive a torrent of abuse when Arsenal faced Tottenham in the derby on November 17, so his team-mates tried to replicate the match situation on the training pitch. Ultimately Campbell came through the match well as the Gunners secured a 1-1 draw at White Hart Lane, but Wenger admitted the situation was difficult for his new signing. "But the situation was really stressful for Sol and he told me afterwards how severe it became. "He couldn't go to certain places for dinner or walk freely in London because of the anger of the Tottenham fans. “In hindsight, I'm not sure if I would sign him again bearing in mind the difficulties he faced." Reporters turned up, having been led to believe that the club were announcing the signing of Ipswich goalkeeper Richard Wright, only for Campbell to be unveiled. "Until I presented Sol Campbell to the press, nobody could have ever imagined him in an Arsenal shirt,” Wenger said when asked how they managed to keep the transfer a secret. "This transfer remained secret amongst the four of us: him, his agent, David and me. That cannot happen anymore in modern football because there are so many people involved in a transfer. "We walked around the house in the countryside at night. I knew that it would cause heated debates in London, but I was truly convinced by the player. But for him, it was more complicated." Campbell went on to play for Arsenal for five years, from 2001 to 2006, winning two Premier League titles and two FA Cups with the Gunners. He left for Portsmouth and played briefly for Notts County before returning to Arsenal for a short stint in 2010.
