Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall has quickly become a pivotal figure for Everton since his transfer from Chelsea last summer. The midfielder has flourished under the guidance of manager David Moyes, showcasing his versatility and contributing significantly to the team’s performance in the Premier League.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall said: “He [Moyes] has given me a lot of freedom to play on the pitch. I don’t really feel like I’m restricted to one thing. I can drop deep and collect the ball and drive from deep, but I can also be in and around the box, trying to get into the box to score and create chances. I just feel like he’s given me that confidence and belief to trust in my abilities. It’s helping my all-round game in terms of attack and defence. I want to be that all-round midfielder, and I think the way that we play contributes to that.”
Dewsbury-Hall’s impact on the field is evident, with six goals and five assists in 23 Premier League appearances, making him Everton’s top contributor in direct goal involvements this season. His adaptation to a more attacking role has allowed him to express his creativity and scoring ability, a stark contrast to his limited opportunities at Chelsea under Enzo Maresca.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall explained: “I’ve played as a 10 more often this season and I’m enjoying it a lot. I think I can offer a lot in that position. I can create chances and score goals, but I’m a player that likes to be involved in the game as much as possible. That’s when I’m playing my best football.”
Since overcoming a hamstring injury in January, Dewsbury-Hall has seamlessly reintegrated into Moyes’ squad, just as Everton eyes a potential European qualification. The Blues currently sit eighth in the league, trailing Liverpool by six points and Brentford by two, with eight crucial matches remaining.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall added: “It would mean an awful lot [qualifying for Europe]. I’ve spoken to a lot of players who have been here for many years, and since the summer when I signed, I’ve seen the fanbase and the atmosphere. It is a club that’s built for Europe. It’s about us now taking that responsibility and saying: the stepping stones are there, it’s about taking it on.”
Dewsbury-Hall’s performance and aspirations reflect Everton’s ambitions to secure a European spot, highlighting the club’s potential and the midfielder’s crucial role in their pursuit.
