Alex Scott
Alex Scott has emerged as a key player for AFC Bournemouth this season, featuring prominently in every match under the guidance of manager Andoni Iraola. His performances have not only solidified his place in the team but have also sparked discussions about his potential inclusion in the England squad for the upcoming World Cup.
Alex Scott said: “It’s the things you dream of as a kid. I think you ask any kid in England that likes football, they obviously want to play for their country. So to even be in the conversation and in and around it is obviously a huge honour for me. But obviously now I want to push on and go one further and be a crucial part for England. So yeah, we’ll see what happens this week. If it goes well, it goes well. If not, then head down, focus and go again. But it’d obviously be a massive dream to play in the World Cup.”
Scott has been reflecting on his journey and the experiences gained from being part of the national setup. He highlighted the importance of learning from seasoned professionals and adapting to different roles within the team.
Alex Scott said: “Just talking to people and seeing how they look after themselves away from football, what they’re doing before training, after training, different bits like that were probably the main things. The players were all brilliant. [Jordan] Henderson as well, another midfielder, so they went above and beyond to help me as much as possible. But yeah, nothing specific to learn.”
The midfielder’s adaptability has been evident, especially with Tyler Adams currently sidelined. Scott has embraced the opportunity to play in various midfield positions, showcasing his versatility and skill set.
Alex Scott explained: “I think it’s definitely been my best season on a personal note. I think I feel confident at the minute, I feel as fit as I’ve ever been and I’m probably playing my best football so in that regard, I’m really happy. Obviously Tyler [Adams] is out at the minute, so played 6 at the weekend, which is a different role, and there’s different parts to every role in midfield. So for me, I’m still learning. I’m still learning off these players and this manager and what he wants.”
Scott’s progress this season has been marked by a growing confidence and a consistent level of performance. His ability to adapt to different roles within the midfield has been a significant factor in his development.
Alex Scott added: “I’ve had a full season now where I’ve just grown week on week. So I think that’s probably been the main thing I’ve improved this year. Obviously I know I’ve got the ability to play, but having the confidence to then do that, for me at the start it was tough. The Premier League, it’s the stars, like it’s the biggest league in the world, the best players.”
As the season progresses, Scott remains focused on maintaining his form and fitness, with the hope of earning a call-up to the national team for the World Cup. His dedication and ambition are clear as he continues to strive for excellence on the pitch.
