Igor Tudor
Tottenham Hotspur’s interim manager, Igor Tudor, found himself in a heated post-match discussion following his team’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield. Richarlison’s 90th-minute equaliser granted Tudor a much-needed point, as he continues to navigate his new role after replacing Thomas Frank.
Igor Tudor said: “That is not a question for me. I’m the coach. You need to ask me about players and how we play. This question that journalists like to ask is a question that doesn’t have sense. When you ask the coach about your position, you don’t have any sense of this. Otherwise he likes to stay at home, but you insist almost always with the same questions!”
Tudor continued: “I didn’t say that. What I will answer, do you provide hope? What kind of question (is that). What do I need to tell you now? I tell you what I tell my players, of course. Are we finished or not? Okay, thank you.”
Reflecting on the draw, Tudor expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance during his interview with Sky Sports.
Igor Tudor said: “Yes. It is an amazing, incredible point we take here, and deserving We showed team spirit. Congratulations to the guys. It is very difficult to even explain our circumstances. In training, we prepared in one way. This morning, Conor [Gallagher] says that he is not able to play so we need to change the players and positions.”
The Croatian continued: “In attack we tried something different. In this moment it’s difficult to work on an structure in attack so we try to simplify it otherwise it can get more difficult. The style of football is what it is, and I think it’s a good start. The team spirit was amazing. This was the main demand. The quality is there. Every point is crucial, we are just going game by game. We hope today is a turning point.”
Tudor’s comments highlighted the challenges he faces in his interim role, particularly with unexpected changes in player availability, such as Conor Gallagher’s inability to play on the day of the match. Despite these hurdles, Tudor praised his team’s adaptability and spirit, emphasizing the importance of each point in their ongoing campaign.
The draw against Liverpool, marked by Richarlison’s late heroics, could indeed serve as a pivotal moment for Tottenham as they aim to build momentum under Tudor’s guidance. The Croatian manager’s focus on team spirit and adaptability may prove essential as Spurs continue to navigate a challenging season.
