Michail Antonio hasn’t travelled with the West Ham squad to face Rapid Vienna in the Europa League on Thursday as David Moyes looks to rotate his squad ahead of a busy upcoming schedule. West Ham will have to try and get the three points without Antonio however, as Moyes has decided to rest him ahead of a busy week in the Premier League. Speaking in his pre-match press conference for the clash against Rapid Vienna,
David Moyes said: Mic [Michail] Antonio is not here, we chose not to bring him but apart from that only Lukasz [Fabianski] isn’t here. We will be strong but we know we have got many big games now. We have a busy week coming up with three Premier League fixtures so we want to give Antonio every chance of being ready for it.”
Moyes also added that he has tried to rotate the side as much as possible in the Europa League so far in order to help keep momentum going.
David Moyes said: “I think everybody would see during the competition that we’ve tried to make sure we mix the players in it as much as we can. We’ve got a good squad and the players have all performed well in the competition. We do want to use them all and give them an opportunity. We know the opposition are going to be tough so we have to go in with as strong a side as we can. It’s our programme which makes these games, new to us, certainly a bit more difficult.”
Moyes will be confident that his side can get the job done before a difficult trip to defending champions Manchester City on Sunday.
