Liam Delap
Everton manager David Moyes has confirmed the club’s interest in Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, as the young forward becomes a hot prospect in the transfer market. Delap, who is available this summer due to a relegation release clause reportedly valued at £30 million, has attracted attention from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Chelsea, and Newcastle United.
David Moyes said: “He would be one who we would certainly have an interest in… we would certainly be interested if he was interested in us. He spoke to three or four clubs. He’s given us our opportunity to pitch our case. We’re probably a little bit behind the black ball but hopefully, you never know what happens.”
Moyes also acknowledged that Everton is not the only club vying for Delap’s signature. The 22-year-old has been in discussions with multiple clubs, exploring his options for the upcoming season. Moyes further mentioned Everton’s interest in Liverpool winger Ben Doak, who spent the previous season on loan at Middlesbrough.
Kieran McKenna said: “Liam’s looking at his options for next year, which I think he is entitled to do and we support him with that. I think we have given him permission to do that this week. It’s a very important decision for his future. Of course there is a lot of interest – and rightly so. I think part of his week has been having some of those conversations. It looks more likely than not that he will move on this summer and he has interest from pretty much every club in the league, and I don’t think there are many clubs in the world who wouldn’t want to have him. We will be proud of the part that we have had in terms of Liam’s development and his contribution this season. If he stays with us, we will be delighted, and if he moves on this summer, it will be a positive sign for the club to have developed and sold a player at that sort of level and hopefully it will be a good move for him as well.”
Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna confirmed Delap’s ongoing discussions about his future, highlighting the significant interest from clubs across the league. McKenna expressed support for Delap’s decision-making process, acknowledging the player’s right to evaluate his career options. He also emphasized Ipswich Town’s pride in Delap’s development and contributions during his time with the club.
The potential transfer of Liam Delap is shaping up to be a significant move in the Premier League’s summer transfer window. As clubs continue to express interest, Delap’s decision will likely have a considerable impact on his career trajectory and the clubs involved. Everton, with Moyes at the helm, remains hopeful of securing his services, despite the stiff competition from other top-tier teams.
