Carlo Ancelotti believes Everton delivered one of their best Goodison performances of the season in the draw with Spurs. But the Blues boss accepts that his side have now dropped four points in their last two home matches and concedes they are losing ground in the race for European qualification. Ancelotti is refusing to give up the fight and with seven games remaining, he insists he is still confident that his team can book a spot in Europe for next term.
Carlo Ancelotti said: “I don’t know if it was a fair result, I know I have to judge this by the performance of my team and the performance was good in a lot of aspects. Defensively, we tried to press forward with a lot of intensity. After 15 minutes we started to play well with the ball when James came in. We made two mistakes when we conceded the two goals. Usually at the back, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate are comfortable. We don’t have to look back, we have to look forward. The performance was one of the best we have played at home this season.”
On the impact the point has on Everton’s European hopes,
Carlo Ancelotti added: “The victory could have been much better. We have lost four points at home and we have lost position to reach the European position but the race is absolutely open until the end and we keep fighting. We have important games and I am confident we can keep fighting until the last game. But we will see.”
