Sir Alex Ferguson always said if you stand still with the players you’ve got – you’re falling behind. So you always need to keep striving to be better. That wasn’t the case with Tottenham at that particular moment. They just didn’t look to go further. Whether that was Pochettino’s idea of not wanting to buy anyone or Daniel Levy’s that he didn’t want to spend any money on new players, who knows? But it’s definitely a time when you need to enhance the squad, when you’re doing well.”
