#PLStories- Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag on beating AFC Bournemouth #MUFC

Cherries struggled to deal with their guests for most of the first period, with ten Hag’s side hemming the hosts inside their own half for the opening half hour. The Red Devils managed to convert their dominance into an early goal, Casemiro’s acrobatic finish in the ninth minute eventually proving to be the difference. Despite their control of possession, United struggled to create clear-cut chances, whilst Cherries themselves failed to truly trouble David De Gea in the Red Devils’ goal, with substitute Kieffer Moore’s gilt-edged opportunity late on their most dangerous of the afternoon. After the game, the Manchester United boss shared: "We go from game to game and (after Bournemouth) we are happy I think. “A great performance, a good team performance. “The first 25 minutes was really good, it was a brilliant performance from our team. Building up, staying compact, the counter press. “A lot of things were magnificent. I hope we can stay longer at such levels and that is what we have to work for.” Whilst Cherries defender Marcos Senesi almost intercepted Christian Eriksen’s assist for Casemiro’s opener, the goal itself included a moment of individual brilliance as the Brazilian swiveled and fired past his compatriot Neto with a scissor kick. “It was great,” ten Hag restarted when discussing the goal. “I think the whole midfield played brilliantly. We're coaching a lot of movement behind and now it's coming out of the third line. “It's a great run from Casemiro and great touch from Christian Eriksen. And the finish is brilliant, of course it was." Manchester United require one point from their final two games to secure a top-four finish, and with it, a place in next season’s Champions League. They host Chelsea at Old Trafford on Thursday evening, before also welcoming Fulham to the Theatre of Dreams on the final day, next Sunday.
Roberto De Zerbi

#PLStories- Roberto De Zerbi reacts to Brighton’s 4-1 defeat at Newcastle #BHAFC

The Seagulls face Southampton on Sunday as they chase the first of two wins which would take them into the Europa League. Head coach De Zerbi said his side got things wrong tactically in the first half at St James’s Park, where they went down 4-1. He said: “We have to be strong in a tough period. “I don’t love to make an excuse but we have eight, nine, I don’t know how many injuries we have. “We are playing four games in 12 days. We knew before the game the situation was difficult. “I think we will be able to qualify anyway for Europe. “We have to win two games. We play in our stadium with our fans. “In our stadium we play with 12 players. “It is a difficult period but to qualify for the Europa League we have to be stronger than everything. “If we qualify in the Europa League we reach an historic target. “We have the right motivation, we have the right energy to fight until the end.” Newcastle’s pressing game stifled Albion in the first half. De Zerbi said: “We didn’t understand well the man who could play and the man was Estupinan – and Caicedo, the full-backs. “We didn’t understand the situation. We didn’t find the right player. “We are not used to playing three games in a week and we suffer a lot. “Moises Caicedo, Pervis, Mitoma - in the first half they don’t play well but I love them. “They have to learn to play two games in four days. “We are not used to it yet but next year we will be better, we will be ready to play every day.”
Roberto De Zerbi

#PLStories- De Zerbi’s admits Lewis Dunk is important for Brighton to qualify for Europe #BHAFC

The skipper makes his 200th Premier League appearance as his side visit Tottenham in a potential six-pointer. Head coach Roberto De Zerbi is facing a selection decision as to who partners Dunk at the back. But there will be no team rotation involving his captain, such is his influence. Dunk goes head-to-head with Harry Kane, the striker De Zerbi rates the best in the Prem, tomorrow. He is very important for us. “I think he is one of the best five centre-backs in the Premier League, but not only in the Premier League. “You can understand what I think about the quality of Lewis.” De Zerbi made it clear how highly he rates Kane – and why he wants Evan Ferguson to follow suit. He said: “Kane is a complete player, complete striker. “He can play like a No.10 or like a No.9. “He has the quality of a No.10 and he is a striker, a goalscorer like a No.9. “He is able to keep the ball, to play with team-mates in the last 20 metres and he understands when he has to attack the space or when to receive the ball. He is a top player. “Evan, now, his best quality is to score, to shoot, to find the goal. “I would like to help him become more complete, become a proper player. “Now he has one big quality but, to achieve the big level, he has to improve.” Midfield duo Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister are fit to play but Tariq Lamptey (knee) is still out.
