Kwame Poku is in the final year of his contract at Peterborough United. The club’s chairman, Darragh MacAnthony, discussed the situation on his ‘Hard Truth’ podcast and revealed that they turned down a significant offer for Poku.
Darragh MacAnthony said “We did make him a club record (contract) offer, but he knows it’s time for him to go to the next level. We hope he wins promotion with us first.”
MacAnthony believes that Poku has immense potential and foresees a promising future for him in football, though it may not involve an immediate move to the Premier League. He indicated that despite the potential for tribunal-set fees should Poku leave, the player has the ability to reach higher levels.
Darragh MacAnthony said “Kwame probably won’t go to the Premier League straight away, but he will get a high-end Championship club. He will be a Premier League star in the future and that next move will probably cost £30 million.”
