Newcastle United Eyeing Brentfords Bryan Mbeumo for Summer Transfer

Bryan Mbeumo

Newcastle United have set their sights on Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, with the forward likely to leave the Bees this summer. The 25-year-old French-born Cameroon international has been a standout performer in the Premier League, attracting interest from several clubs, including the Magpies. Mbeumo has netted 18 goals in 35 matches this season, ranking him joint-fifth in the league’s top scorers, and has also contributed five assists. As the season draws to a close, Newcastle are reportedly keen on acquiring the £60 million-rated attacker.

Christian Norgaard said: “I am calm with what might happen with Bryan [Mbeumo] and [Yoane] Wissa because a lot of questions are asked about them and you can almost feel the worries around the place when you talk about them maybe leaving us. I, for one, feared we would lose Ollie Watkins, Said Benrahma, Ivan Toney, so it continues [without them]. I think Bryan is likely to go, I don’t know with Wissa yet, everyone is hoping he might stay. Either way, I am happy with the season they have both had because they deserve it.”

Brentford have enjoyed a strong season in the Premier League, even after losing former Newcastle striker Ivan Toney to Al-Ahli for £40 million. The Bees have secured 15 wins and seven draws in their 35 matches, placing them ninth in the table and within reach of European qualification. Mbeumo has been instrumental in Brentford’s success, directly contributing to over a third of their 62 top-flight goals this season. Norgaard, reflecting on Mbeumo’s potential departure, acknowledged the forward’s significant impact on the team and expressed his belief that Mbeumo “fully deserves” a move this summer.

Mbeumo’s journey with Brentford began six years ago, and his development has been closely tied to the club’s rise in stature. His potential transfer could mark a significant step in his career, while also presenting Newcastle with a valuable addition to their attacking lineup. As the summer transfer window approaches, Mbeumo’s future remains a key point of interest for both Brentford and Newcastle supporters.
