Sam Greenwood says Leeds United’s ‘hard work’ during their training camp in Spain will benefit the side’s fitness levels when the Premier League returns later this month. After a two-week break during the World Cup, the players not representing their nations in Qatar have jetted out to Spain to prepare for the rest of the season. Leeds will face reigning champions Manchester City on December 28, and Greenwood believes the intensity of the training and the opportunity to spend more time with his teammates has been good for the squad as a whole.

Sam Greenwood said: “It’s going really well. I’m enjoying it and it’s a good opportunity for the lads to get some work done and get prepared for the season. We’ve been training constantly. We haven’t had too much free time yet, but I think we get one free afternoon but other than that it’s just hard work and graft. It’s been quite tough. A lot of running, a lot of intense drills. It’s a good time to get us together, good for team bonding and getting us ready for the next games coming up, massive games. It’s like going back to Australia, some of the kind of training, running a lot. But it will all come out in the end and show our fitness and I believe we will do really well.”
