Aston Villa star Philippe Coutinho has broken his silence after his World Cup hopes were ended by an injury. The attacking midfielder has now posted a message on social media,
Philippe Coutinho reads: “The World Cup is the dream for any player and even though I will not be present, I will be supporting my country with all my heart and soul. I am very grateful to GOD and the national team staff to have been part of this journey. As you all know, I have an injury which stops me from stepping onto the pitch for a few weeks. I also wanted to thank you all for the positive messages I have been receiving. I can see that there are a lot of people who like me and therefore, I want to express my gratitude to them. With positivity and faith I will look forward, and will be focussed on recovering in the best way to come back even stronger. The difficult periods are all part of it but there still are a lot of good things to happen.”
The Daily Mail claim that Coutinho’s injury could rule him out for “up to 10 weeks” but a “seven week return” is the “best case scenario” for the Brazilian.
