Eddie Howe issued a message to a clutch of players who are struggling for first-team football at Newcastle United – including Dwight Gayle, Isaac Hayden, Sean Longstaff and Jeff Hendrick. All four have been unable to force their way into Howe’s staring line-up and could face another stint of bench-warming at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium tomorrow. When asked specifically about the likes of Gayle and Hayden,
Eddie Howe said: “Everyone is important, whether you are in the starting eleven or on the bench or just out of the squad, everyone has a huge part to play. As you know from experience, football can change very quickly. I am in the position where I’ve got a lot of bodies in front of me. Suddenly you can be in the team and at the forefront of the team fighting for the club but to do that you need to be mentally prepared.”
