Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn was understandably proud of his Scotland team after the goalless draw against England at Wembley. Speaking before the game, McGinn had said he would be happy not to have to face club-mate Grealish from the start.
John McGinn explained: “Jack’s one of my closest mates at Villa and away from football. I just hope he doesn’t play on Friday because I know just how good a player he is. I hope he’s watching the game and not in it. I know what he can do. Jack’s one of the best players in the country – if not Europe – at the moment so if I was the England manager, I would put him in.”
The result takes England to four points so still on course for the last 16 but they could take little credit for the performance.
