Everton will be better prepared for Europe than they were four seasons ago, says Gylfi Sigurdsson. But the Blues midfielder is refusing to get swept up in too much talk of a return to European competition just yet. Wins over Ruzomberok and Hajduk Split secured a passage to the group stages but Everton’s season was falling apart and they finished second bottom, with just one win from six fixtures, and had three different managers take charge of the team.
Gylfi Sigurdsson said: “It’s a long way from us now, there are still a lot of games to be played. If we are there, then hopefully this club is more prepared for it now than it was a couple of years ago. But it is a guessing game to see if we make to into Europe. But the squad is stronger and the team is better it is a different manager, who has experienced a lot in this game. I think so, but only time will tell.”
