Brendan Rodgers admitted that Leicester City’s heaviest defeat in 18 months has “taken the shine off” an excellent first half of the campaign but it will continue it’s strive to be the best of the rest . With just 45 hours and 30 minutes between the heavy loss to Liverpool and a trip to the London Stadium, Rodgers said there is no time to dwell into the loss and he will rotate considerably for fear his key players will suffer injuries if they play twice in three days.
Brendan Rodgers said “The last two games have been great benchmarks for us. Because of how well we’ve done, we’ve been catapulted into this race for the title. But I think you’ve seen over the last couple of games, the quality of the opposition we’re playing. Liverpool were absolutely terrific. We can be better, much better. With the ball, we gave it up too easily this evening. When we got into the opposition’s half we didn’t keep it for long enough, so you’re then inviting that pressure.”
Former Liverpool boss Rodgers also warned Klopp against complacency.
Brendan Rodgers said “They have a great cushion but that can go very quickly. They have the power and strength and now the big thing is the confidence. Having won the Champions League, Club World Cup and Super Cup, they have the feeling and the squad is very strong. They will be hard to shift in the second part of the season.”
This is the period where probably Brendan Rodgers and Leicester City’s season will get defined as he swaps his players around, motivates them to pick up again after a demoralizing defeat to the league leaders.
