David Moyes
David Moyes has expressed his dissatisfaction with Everton’s recent set-piece performance as the team prepares to face Ipswich Town at Goodison Park. Despite having a physically imposing squad, the Toffees have struggled to capitalize on free-kicks and corner kicks, a situation that Moyes is keen to address.
David Moyes said: “It’s been rubbish. And I’d be the first to say it. Probably, mainly delivery at the moment, I would put it down to. If you’ve got the ball and you’re planning on having something to work to, you need the quality of delivery to be much better. Our delivery has been really, really poor.”
Moyes is looking to make strategic changes in the remaining fixtures to improve Everton’s performance. He praised the impact of substitutes in their recent match against Chelsea, where they nearly turned the game around.
He said: “What I’m trying to drive through here is that it won’t just be 11 players. We’re going to need 14-15, certainly every game to get us results. I thought the changes at the time made a big difference. Look, we’re always looking to see what’s the best formation for us and what we can do. I also want to give some players opportunities to show what they’re capable of. We’ve only got four games to go, so we’ll continue to have a look at things.”
As Everton approaches the end of their tenure at Goodison Park, Moyes is focused on maximizing the potential of his squad. The team is set to move to a new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock, marking the end of an era. In honor of this transition, a special souvenir edition celebrating the history of Goodison Park is available for fans.
In other news, Everton’s Argentinian midfielder, currently on loan from Flamengo, has yet to secure enough playing time to warrant a permanent transfer. Moyes remains vigilant about the player’s situation, indicating that the club is monitoring developments closely.
Moyes said: “We’re keeping our eye on it and seeing what we think.”
This upcoming match against Ipswich Town is crucial for Everton as they aim to improve their set-piece effectiveness and secure a strong finish to the season.
