Ahead of the match against Tottenham, Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has talked about allowing Ryan Fraser to rest after a heavy workload at the start of the season and compared Joelington to one of Manchester United signings of the past who had taken a long time to adapt to the English game despite coming in with a huge reputation.
Steve Bruce said “We’ve purposely left him out. He’s now played two and a half hours so it’s still early and we have to be careful with him. I remember the Man United lads telling me about Veron when Man United signed him and when he came to the training ground, ‘What a player!’ they said. It’s fair to say that he never hit the heights that all the players at Man U thought at the time because they all thought that he was the best player they ever worked with and it didn’t quite happen for him.”
