As Liverpool was getting ready to face QPR later that day, new Kop hero Neil Ruddock backed Les Ferdinand to become one of the most outstanding players of that season. The former Tottenham man admitted that facing up against Ferdinand would be a difficult task for his new side.
Neil Ruddock said “Les had got to be one of the hardest forwards to come up against. He’s improved over the past two or three years. He’s got good pace and he runs at goal with good control, I’ve only played against him twice but he seems to have everything – he’s big, he’s strong plus good on the ball.”
