Yossi Benayoun was reflecting on his move to West Ham United and why it was a significant choice in his career.
Yossi Benayoun said “First I will say, I think it was the best decision of my career.”
Benayoun continued explaining why the Premier League, particularly West Ham United, was the right fit for him despite expectations to stay in Spain.
Yossi Benayoun said “I’m not saying because you know – I’m not trying to. Really, the best decision because when I played in Spain, you know, with my body – you know I’m not that strong. I don’t have the muscles, it’s mainly bones. Everyone said in Spain that this is my type of football, and I need to stay in Spain. I got a lot of criticism in Israel when I left Spain, and they said I would never be successful in England. And I think the fact that I signed for West Ham – not only in the Premier League, especially West Ham – was the best decision.”
Benayoun also shared his thoughts on working under Alan Pardew at West Ham United and how the environment was conducive to his development as a player.
Yossi Benayoun said “Because with Alan Pardew at the time and the players that were at the club, it was perfect for me to improve my football.”
