Nigel Pearson revealed the news on Friday about some players missing the training, while he thought it was inappropriate to reveal who the players were, he explained why they were not at training at the moment. Watford have two more players in seven day isolation after coming into contact with someone who has tested positive for coronavirus. While the two players have not tested positive themselves, they are still isolating, following Premier League protocol.
Nigel Pearson said: “They’re not, but obviously one player through testing positive, two more because of close contact with somebody else and we have the players who’ve decided not to come in. I don’t really intend to give you specific numbers, but we’ve had several players who’ve not been available for different reasons this week. It is what it is, you can’t do much about that at the moment and hopefully that situation will change in time. The regulations are, that people who have had relatively close contact with other people, they have to go into isolation in the same way as somebody that’s tested positive, so it’s really just as simple as that. It’s an illustration of that, it’s not just about being tested positive or negative, there are other elements as well and you’ve got to remember that we work in an environment where, okay we’re non-contact at the moment, in terms of training, but there are elements of contact with staff members and players so these are just things that we have to abide by, but I don’t intend to reveal people’s names, I don’t think that’s really appropriate.”
