It’s said that the England international snubbed enquiries from rivals Arsenal and Tottenham when exploring possible exits routes away from Manchester City. Sterling is already in Los Angeles and is set to join up with the Chelsea squad amid a pre-season tour of the United States. And, making the most of picturesque scenery on the west coast, the Blues’ first signing of the summer was pictured in Todd Boehly’s homeland as part of the announcement. Sterling proceeded to post a handful of pictures from the Chelsea’s shoot in LA – and Rudiger was eager to show his appreciation for the winger. Speaking to the official Chelsea website, Sterling spoke of his joy in joining the club.
Raheem Sterling said: “First and foremost, it’s a pleasure to be here. I’ve obviously achieved a lot in my career so far, but there is still so much more to achieve, and I’m really looking forward to doing that in a Chelsea shirt under Thomas’s management. London is my home and where it all started for me, and it’s amazing I now have the opportunity to play in front of friends and family week in, week out at Stamford Bridge. I’m really looking forward to meeting the fans there soon. I do want to take the opportunity to thank Todd, Behdad, the ownership group, Thomas, and all involved in the process of getting me here. I can’t wait to get going now and continue to do my talking on the pitch.”
Then, on the club’s Instagram account,
Raheem Sterling added: “So glad to be a Chelsea player right now. Honestly can’t wait to get started and yeah, let’s make history together.”
